Science hit hard by Obama's spending cuts ...

I know it's logical to expect hard times to come ahead when Obama needs to do what he has to do to get America out of the hole Bush has sunk it into financially, but ... sheesh, Science seems to have been hit particularly hard. Just look at his projected cuts and reductions in funding:

[Transcribed excerpts from original source, linked below]

NASA Exploration: cut by 50% (from $1,500,000,000 to $750,000,000)
(National Aeronautics and Space Administration // Exploration)

NSF: ELIMINATED ($1,402,000,000)
(National Science Foundation)

NOAA: cut by 34.94% (from $1,222,000,000 to 427,000,000)
(National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration)

There are many other Science-related departments that have either been reduced or removed entirely from the bill, but the are of less interest to me personally, so I invite you to head to the source document(s) and see for yourself the extent of American programs and agencies that have been affected here at the TPM Documents Collection.

Sure, that's alot of money saved for now, but those cuts and eliminations are certainly gonna hurt alot of heads for a while ... *suppresses urge to embark in yet another tirade against Bush for sinking America, and by extension, the world, into an economic black hole*
